The Right to Explore

Looking for the answer is a sure way to find a question.
Looking for things is a sure way to find people.
Looking for acquaintances is a sure way to find contacts.
Looking for exits is a sure way to enter deep.
Looking for the map is a sure way to find a compass.
Looking for the tree is a sure way to get lost in a forest.
Looking for the universal myth is a sure way to find a sphinx.

It offers a riddle you are refusing to solve.
"The last one to step foot here
is the first one that comes in."
Your being is a treasure -and you are a pirate of the seven seas.
Or is it a castaway, engraving their wisdom in sand,
looking for what the wave has brought-
only to find the labor of their day erased.

You do not actually care. You might mourn it, come night-
but tomorrow grants another beginning, still.
So if you find it, there is no need to look further.
